Review of ‘Give It Up’ by Tales Of Ojela from Their New EP

Introduction

I was lucky enough to have the chance to listen to an advanced copy of the new EP “In This River” by Tales Of Ojela (Released Today), and one particular track really stood out to me. So much so that I felt compelled to share my thoughts! Of course, I highly recommend checking out the entire EP as well; you can find the link below.

Hailing from Germany, Tales Of Ojela defy easy genre classification. Their sound blends funky vibes with powerful rock elements, all woven together in a vibrant composition. While they draw inspiration from legends like Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Queens of the Stone Age, they undeniably bring their own distinctive style to the table.

Review

I find myself tapping my foot along to the bass and drum rhythm from the very first note. The guitar only enhances the funk-like vibes, and I’m completely on board! When the deep, warm vocals come in, they evoke memories of King Crimson. This track is genuinely as complex as they come, yet it never feels lost. The journeys destination remains clear, even as it gives off a relaxed vibe, like enjoying a glass of whisky in a cozy jazz bar.

The mix on this track is excellent , with every element shining through distinctly and harmoniously. It feels like embarking on a musical adventure. For me at the 3:10 mark the drums take center stage , providing a powerful momentum for the remainder of the track. The guitar impresses throughout with its intricate , constantly evolving tune and elevates the overall experience, both in intensity and artistry.

The vocal performance is outstanding right from the beginning of the track, reaching its peak towards the end, showcasing an incredible power and range. However, I’m not a fan of the whispered singing that appears around the three-minute mark; I could have done without that. On the lyrical front, this track is fantastic! I also appreciate the shifts in tempo throughout.

“Gazing at the sun , shattering your dreams”

This is the standout track for me on Tales Of Ojela’s new EP “In This River” and is definitely worth a full listen! I highly recommend that everyone gives it a try.
