Here’s my alternative Big 4 of thrash metal:
1. **Testament**: Often considered the fifth member of the Big 4, Testament has been a staple in thrash since the ’80s with albums like *The Legacy* and *Practice What You Preach*. Their powerful riffs and strong songwriting have kept them relevant for decades.
2. **Exodus**: With their ferocious energy and raw sound, Exodus played a significant role in shaping the thrash scene. Albums like *Bonded by Blood* are essential listening for any thrash metal fan.
3. **Overkill**: Known for their relentless touring and prolific discography, Overkill has been delivering high-energy thrash for over 40 years. Albums like *Feel the Fire* and *Horrorscope* showcase their enduring influence.
4. **Death Angel**: Emerging from the Bay Area thrash scene, Death Angel is known for their technical prowess and intense live performances. Albums like *The Ultra-Violence* and *Act III* highlight their contribution to the genre.
These bands have all made significant contributions to thrash metal and deserve recognition for their influence and longevity.
