Ramones ALL the way, hey ho, let’s GO! Even though they never achieved great commercia success, they inspired SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many other bands. They are absolutely the band that inspired the most other punk bands to go for it.

If you consider them punk then my favorite is The Jam. Paul Weller’s vocals and lyrics have always been my favorite. I would also say my favorite punk album is Entertainment by Gang of Four, if that is punk. Or Pink Flag by Wire.

Adam and the Ants. Sooo much better than when he went solo. “Goody two shoes? Seriously? Anyway, early Ant music was awesome. I liked the tribal drum style.

I totally admit to being a Green Day fan. Yes, I “discovered ” them when Dookie hit the charts, and have been a loyal fan ever since even going back before that and listening to Sweet Children stuff.

They were absolutely awful, as I saw it as an older teen, but The Legionnaires’ Disease, out of Houston, Texas, was around in punk’s beginnings, late 70s. My big sister Gwen played acoustic guitar, and Jerry Duncan was the lead singer. One of their songs was called “Who Killed Martha Mitchell”, and he would scream that out like he was going to bring down the government with the song. They all got off heroin and ended up in Humboldt County in northern California on a clandestine pot farm in a hunt and hide war that police commandos had declared, helicopters strafing the place, fighter jets flying low through the valley trying to scare everybody, and they’d raid a farm and take whatever they wanted, take the moms and pops to jail, their kids screaming and crying, and they’d burn all the confiscated weed once a year in a big to do they did. Anyway, who killed Martha Mitchell indeed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xatnzjFnzzA That’s a link to it. It’s the band I have a history with, since my big sister was in it, and her being a heroin addict was largely because of that band, and that really makes you worry when you’re a kid, about your big sister I mean. She was the rhythm guitar player, not the acoustic one like I said, and they all settled in Mendocino County, on Spyrock Mountain, not in Humboldt. (I settled in Humboldt, for awhile.) The police commandos were named C.A.M.P. (campaign against marijuana production), and they wouldn’t always take both the mom and pop but take the person who said they owned the weed, but they always scared the children.

I might add that when they cleaned up their act and became pot farmer’s, which they also did as a band, they grew the best sunk in the county, my sister their green thumb, a medicine herb that helped them get off the hard stuff and helped others too. That became their music.

My wife loves Paul Weller since she was a teenager in the 80s but has never had a chance to see him. Would love to be in the UK just for that opportunity.
From the Jam sounds like a good night out. Even without Weller that would be fun to see.

I don’t want to sound insincere. I am not someone who brags about stuff, but I’ve been going to shows since the 80s so I’ve been blessed with opportunities. Some of the most iconic shows I saw of artists in their prime have been Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Prince, Pink Floyd, R.E.M., The Cure. I saw Bon Jovi on their first arena tour. Later in life some of my faves I got to see are Steely Dan, Elvis Costello, Journey, Earth Wind and Fire, P Funk. Back in the 80s and early 90s I went to hundreds of small club shows. Some of the biggest that I saw before they were super famous were Public Enemy, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fugazi, Soul Asylum, Jane’s Addiction, The Pixies, Soundgarden. It’s crazy when I think back and write this list. I feel lucky to have been able to see all that music.

3 years ago Rex and I spent a long weekend in Dublin, went to the Hella Mega Tour at Marlay Park where we saw Weezer, Fall Out Boy and Green Day, the next day we saw Guns N’ Roses there.
Last year we flew in for the day to see AC/DC at Croke Park.
