Introduction
Spirit Leaves are a band that likes to blend melodic elements with hardcore. Hailing from Orlando Florida these guys know how to catch your attention and more importantly keep hold of it!
Review
The opening 15 seconds creates an atmosphere of suspense and curiosity that could seamlessly fit into the Stranger Things soundtrack.
The moment the song truly begins is when the combination of vocals and drums kick in both of which having impact from the very start. I particularly appreciate the gentle almost fragile quality of the vocals here. This part of the track gives me a Deftones vibes stylistically speaking.
Then out of nowhere there is a sudden burst of harsh vocals and guitars that hit you unexpectedly, what a powerful impact! What is particularly impressive is the way they seamlessly transition back into melodic singing. Lyrically, I would say the initial section of harsh vocals is my favourite part of the whole track.
“God dammit
Don’t you see you’re in pain?
You f*cking zealot”

As the track progresses, the guitars increase in their involvement , which creates an effective layering effect especially felt during the chorus. I really appreciate the ambient elements they incorporate; this unique blend of sounds within the song contributes to its overall impact.
When I listen deeper into their music, I can sense influences from Bring Me The Horizon and Spiritbox in their approach. They typically blend a solid mix of melodic elements with powerful breakdowns that create a complete sensory experience.
If this is your first time hearing this song, you’re constantly in for a surprise with what unfolds next, adding to the intrigue. The musicianship here is impressive, with each instrument getting its moment to stand out during the track. Personally, I find the drums to be the standout element, delivering a powerful presence throughout the entire piece.
I appreciate the blend of clean and harsh vocals, as both are executed beautifully. While I would have liked to hear a bit more harshness integrated into the clean parts, I recognize that achieving this without two vocalists is a challenge. However, it could be an interesting idea to explore in future collaborations.
I understand that this was the vibe they aimed for, but I wish the slower sections of the song had a bit more energy. The momentum the band creates is impressive, and it would have been fantastic to keep that intensity a little more. To do this I think a few more of those tasty guitar riffs would have really helped to push the song to higher heights.
This song is fantastic and a showcase for what the band can do. My suggestions for improvement are minor in nature and personal preference. The fact that I reached out to the band for a review after discovering their music on TikTok shows just how effectively they capture a listener’s interest. I have no doubt they will only continue to improve!
