Oooh this is tough. Another coin toss again. I’ll say Bohemian Rhapsody and Another One Bites The Dust.

All three are classics. But Bohemian Rhapsody is in a league of its own.

So much greatness here… having said that, there really is only one choice here .. Bohemian Rhapsody for the win – it is such a unique take on the “Rhapsody” structure that its a stand-out. (there are of course other great examples of Rhapsody by other artists)

Using this definition: “A rhapsody …is a one-movemet work that is episodic yet integrated, free-flowing in structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, colour, and tonally. An air of spontaneous inspiration and a sense of improvisation make it freer in form than a set of variation..”

        I’d suggest some examples like:

        Knights of Cydonia – Muse

Live and Let Die – Paul McCartney/Wings

Welcome to the Black Parade – My Chemical Romance

Band On The Run – Paul McCartney/Wings

        Paranoid Android – Radiohead

        Ever After – Marinas Trench

        Jesus Of Suburbia – Greenday

… there are many more.. but these are examples that come to mind

Really! Only those three. For head banging, like in Wayne’s World, Bohemian Rhapsody but for straight up bad ass rocking, Another One Bites The Dust. However, I personally love Crazy Little Thing Called Love, the nod to Elvis and Brian May drop tuning his guitar; pure ass shaking rock.

All great songs. Bohemian Rhapsody gave my cat Freddie his name when he hit just the right notes along with the real and memorable Freddie. But the one song that always chokes me up when I listen to it and see Freddie Mercury on video is These Are the Days of Our Lives.

Another difficult decision. Can’t sit still when listening to ‘Another One Bites The Dust’. It has a very special energy. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is another masterpiece that takes you on a journey with so many musical elements in it. I love the melodical section. – So no clear ‘favorite’ for me. They are both up there! ;).

Bohemian Rhapsody I think is the ultimate Queen song, but has been done into the ground. I stilla ssociate with headbanging in a car… But Queen was definitely part of my growing up in the UK. How could it not be?

Great posts. I’m a huge fan of Queen and adore all the songs they have composed. However, Bohemian Rhapsody is my personal favourite. Great melody, beat and meaning. It has always been the song that I listen to the most when I am jogging outside. There is nothing quite like it.

None of these are my favorite Queen song (my favorite being “Radio Ga Ga”) but as someone else said, Bohemian Rhapsody is in a category of its own. It’s like feeling Comfortably Numb on the Stairway to Heaven. It’s one of the greatest songs ever written.
