High-Energy Rock: Moon Fever’s Forever Sleep Album Review

Introduction

Todays review is of Seattle based rockers Moon Fever and their debut album Forever Sleep. Which is out TODAY! We have previously interviewed the band and have been looking forward to this day ever since. Their sound is high energy that was inspired by stadium rock bands, but with modern style vocals.

This combination saw them snag the best song at the Fox Reviews Rock Awards recently with “Feels So Good”. Strap yourself in for the review and dont forget to check out the album in full!

Review

Getting Loud

Moon Fever – Getting Loud (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

Whoa! These guys wasted no time and hit the ground running; the album’s concept is established right from the start with an impressive energy! The vocals are powerful, complemented by the guitars and drums that create the backdrop.

“It’s getting loud, it’s getting loud!”

A catchy riff follows the chorus, and I’m here for it! I can easily see this becoming a fan favourite, as the repetitive lyrics make it catchy and perfect for sing-alongs. They definitely have a formula for their tracks, but when that formula produces something as great as this, I’m all for it… The only aspect I’m not fond of is the backing vocals at 1:55, but thankfully the solo that follows more than compensates for it.

Nothing Left To Lose

Moon Fever – Nothing Left To Lose (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

The opening of this track features incredible drumming that propels the song forward at a rapid pace. The vocal placement is also outstanding, and always fits in perfectly with the instruments around them.

If you’re in the mood for a sing-along, this might just be the perfect choice for you. I really enjoy the harsher vocals on “rest,” though I do wish there were a bit more of them, as they provide a striking contrast to the other vocals.

“Walked the land of no return, I’m never coming back.”

This line is just one example of the superb lyrics throughout the album; it’s clear that this band knows exactly what they’re doing!

Forever Sleep

Moon Fever – Forever Sleep (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

I’m not quite sure what kicks off this track; it almost resembles a keyboard, but whatever it is, it sounds fantastic!

“Rip my eyes wide open, you are all the same. Kill me now, I’m broken; you are all to blame.”

I completely understand why this song was chosen as the album’s title—it’s an absolute earworm! The chorus is incredibly catchy. The guitar solo at 2:30 is perfectly timed, showcasing some impressive skills. I also love how they transitioned smoothly from the solo right back into the chorus!

Taking Cover

Moon Fever – Taking Cover (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

This track is an absolute catchy monster of a tune! I honestly can’t understand why it wasn’t released as a single earlier, given how strong it is. The song features fantastic riffs and has just the right tempo to keep the energy flowing alongside the other tracks.

“Taking cover your worlds on fire, don’t let me down don’t let me down.”

I’ve mentioned the Chris Cornell-style vocals in the past, but I have to say, this really brings to mind the vocals from “You Know My Name,” which is a huge compliment.

I’m Gone

Moon Fever – I’m Gone (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

This band excels at incorporating sound effects at the beginning of their tracks, instantly grabbing your attention. Their stadium rock influence is evident, especially in the infectious nature of their melodies.

It’s a rare treat to encounter a group that crafts such unforgettable verses as well! I found myself singing along while writing this review, so you can bet the music is exceptional!

Live Fast Die Young

Moon Fever – Live Fast Die Young (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

If there’s one hidden treasure that I believe people might overlook on this album then, it’s “Live Fast Die Young!”  From the very start, it boasts an infectious rhythm, complemented by fantastic bass and guitar riffs. And let’s not forget that memorable line at the end of the chorus:

“Live fast die young, I think I might.”

While it may not be as fast paced as some other tracks on the album, the shift into the chorus more than compensates for it. What I particularly appreciate about this song is the verse near the end, which serves almost like a bridge, delivering an unexpected twist that keeps the listener engaged.

Feels So Good

Moon Fever – Feels So Good (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

This track stands out as my absolute favorite from the entire album , that’s hands down, chips in the center and no questions asked. It has spot on vocals throughout, perfectly blending with the powerful guitar riffs and precise drumming.

It’s no wonder this was chosen as our song of the year at the Fox Reviews Rock Awards! The chorus is not just catchy; it has that irresistible quality that makes you want to belt it out at the top of your lungs. Sure, you might get some odd looks, but this song deserves to be celebrated!

“All my colors fade away, all that’s left is black and grey.”

The final chorus introduces a significant tonal shift, adding a extra layer of emotion and depth. I can’t get enough of this song!

Make It Look Easy

Moon Fever – Make It Look Easy (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

One thing I’m certain of is that an acoustic rendition of this track, with a slower tempo and deeper emotion, would have connected with me more. While it’s fantastic as it stands, I believe it could have brought an additional depth to both the song and the entire album.

On a positive note, I do appreciate the intense vocals at the end, which unlock memories of Corey Taylor—definitely a plus. It may sound a bit harsh, but in comparison to the song that precedes it, I feel this one is the least strong on the album.

Scars

Moon Fever – Scars (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

Remember the earlier discussion about the band’s formula? Forget it for this track! This song is perfect for energizing a crowd and really gets the vibe going—definitely a classic. The shift from verses to chorus isn’t as stark here, but that’s not a drawback; the tone remains quite consistent throughout. After all, not every song needs to be a high-speed thrill ride.

Vain

Moon Fever – Vain (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

The opening of this track gives off  Royal Blood like vibes, showcasing the band’s talent for blending drums and guitars. While the lyrics are solid, I wouldn’t label the chorus as particularly memorable, which is a bit of a departure from the norm. In this song, the bass truly takes center stage!

Other instruments get their moments to shine, but that guitar solo at 1:20 feels a bit too brief. With some bands, you find yourself eager for the vocals to return, but here, the instrumental sections are so powerful that you’re more than happy to let them play out.

T.V. Skin

Moon Fever – T.V. Skin (All Rights Are Retained By Moon Fever)

As soon as this track kicks in, I find myself wishing for a bit more punch from the drums. However, I can’t deny how much I’m enjoying that intense vocal around the 40-second mark. There’s no question that this song will get you headbanging.

Still, I doubt it’s one you’d easily sing along to in a crowd because of its rapid pace. Nevertheless, it serves as a powerful and impressive conclusion to the band’s debut album.

Finishing Thoughts

If you’re going to do a debut album then make it like this one! This really is incredible, with an acoustic song and more harsh vocals this would have scored the perfect 10! Still I cant help but see massive potential in the band and this album has already been on repeat for a while for me at this point.

9/10
