It’s the time of the week that we highlight one of our favourite new releases. This time its Bare Minimum by Ten Eighty Trees. Read a little about the song in the band’s own words. Then, listen to it once or fifty times!
Song Background Information
“Bare Minimum” channels the frustrations of being taken advantage of and the realization that doing only what’s necessary is all that’s left. The song explores the emotional shift from being overextended to embracing a minimalist, self-preserving mindset. Its driving guitars and catchy melodies echo a sense of reluctant surrender, perfectly capturing the essence of slacker rock.

“We wanted to write something that felt unapologetic,” says the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist Nathan Newton. “The song is about no longer bending over backwards for others. Sometimes, doing the ‘bare minimum’ is all you have the energy for, and that’s okay.”
With its humorously honest lyrics, and infectious, riff-heavy instrumentation, “Bare Minimum” strikes a balance between catharsis and a real good time. The track’s infectious chorus and dynamic instrumentation are set to make waves, solidifying Ten Eighty Trees as one of the most exciting up-and-coming acts in the UK alternative rock scene.
Ten Eighty Trees have quickly established themselves with their distinct fusion of 90s alt-rock influences and modern sensibilities, drawing comparisons to bands like Weezer, Foo Fighters, and Biffy Clyro. Their sound brings a refreshing authenticity to the modern rock landscape, delivering music that resonates with both seasoned rock fans and new listeners alike.

“Bare Minimum” is available for streaming on all major platforms now. Be sure to follow Ten Eighty Trees on social media for updates on upcoming performances and releases.
We’ll be playing London 21st March 2025 . Merch is available from our Ten Eighty Trees Bandcamp page.
