Introduction
You’re in for an absolute treat today with the song we are reviewing! Whiskey & The Wolves are a unlike anything else I have personally ever heard before. With vocals to die for , and skills to pay the bills on every instrument! With a splash of mythological and historical inspiration, this band is right up my street. A bold statement to make but I think they will be up yours too!
Review

The beginning of this song is so gloriously atmospheric . I actually moved where I was playing this song to blast it on my complete setup, with surround sound. It sounds absolutely amazing. There isn’t a great deal to it but the layering creates this effect I can’t get enough of. By the time the piano is introduced you really sense something momentous is about to happen. Spoiler alert… It is.
The drums and guitar deliver to completely transform the feel of the song. I sat down and found myself actually drumming along, then playing that catchy little riff at the end of each part.
However as great as they are I appreciate how they fade into silence just as the vocals begin. If I could sing in any vocal style (I can’t sing to save my life), it would definitely be this one! It’s brings to mind rich hot chocolate or a smooth honey whiskey—both comforting to the soul and leaving you craving more with every taste.
Suddenly, his powerful vocal range is fully demonstrated, pulling you in with an irresistible force! In contrast, the bass gently envelops you, providing a soothing embrace.

The band possesses the knack for timing their instrumental segments perfectly. They are just lengthy enough to highlight their skills and maintain the song’s momentum, yet not so prolonged that you find yourself yearning for the return of the vocals. I have a feeling this is a deliberate choice, giving the vocalist a moment to catch their breath and sip some water between powerful lyric deliveries. This I imagine is especially helpful when performing the song live.
“SING FOR ME, SING FOR ME”
Certain parts of the singing possess a beautiful, almost choir-like quality, while also incorporating a touch of blues. I’m actually struggling to come up with a band comparison here, but regardless I am enjoying this.
There’s a part of the drumming that has a bongo like quality to it, enhanced by backing vocals that evoke a ghostly like presence. It brings to mind the hushed conversations that might have surrounded Caesar’s betrayal. Perhaps I’m off track, but it would be fascinating if that connection was intentional…Especially for myself as I am a big fan of mythology and history in general!
In the last minute of the song, the instrumentalists deliver an impressive display as they truly take center stage. Personally, I feel the track could have wrapped up about 10 seconds sooner, but that’s just my taste. If I had to point out one flaw, it would be that the lyrics can be a bit hard to decipher at times. I’m not sure if this is due to mixing, where some instruments might be too prominent. It is a really slight issue though so almost forget I’ve even mentioned it!

Final Thoughts
This band embodies everything I seek in new music! I stumbled upon them through Dingir Zu, and as always, if you’re looking to connect with a fantastic community of rock fans, check them out!
However, I can’t help but feel shocked by the low listener count on their Spotify page. Seriously, everyone should be aware of Whiskey & The Wolves! I have a very strong feeling that 73 monthly listeners could easily turn into thousands in a couple of months. Not giving this band a listen is more of a crime than the knife in Caesars back!
