Having never heard either before, thank you! Immediately got an Yngwie Malmstein vibe off the guitar in Avenged Sevenfold. Devil Wears Prada gave me a much more 90s/00s vibe. Now I’ve got 2 more bands to explore. These are good things.

Love that this is the first exposure to both bands ! 😁 I’d stick to earlier era Avenged probably like first 3/4 albums

Not a super fan of either band to be honest, but I could listen to Devil Wears Prada.

Nothing wrong with not liking something 😁 have to tick bands off to better confirm what we like 🙂

I’d say The Devil Wears Prada, was more melodic.

It’s more melodic for sure , but Avenged still has a lot going for it 🙂

I like both but I am going to go with Avenged Sevenfold here. I also like Until the End by them!

Love the opening guitar on Hail to the King, but I would listen to Chemical more often. Chemical has my vote.

That’s really interesting what exactly would you say is the reason for that ?

One thing you should probably know about me is that although I like a lot of different genres of music, I mostly listen to top 40 when I write. I always tend to go for the “softer” of the two choices unless I am familiar with the songs and definitely know what I like.

For these two songs, I think it came down to voices. If Hail to the King had been instrumental – I’d have it on a playlist on rotation. Chemical had more pleasing voices (to me) and the overall vibe was more to my liking.

Nothing wrong with liking the top 40 🙂 life would be boring without the occasional change in pace though 😁

I agree! A friend has recently put me onto some great guitarists like Roy Buchanan, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Moore, Robin Trower, Jack Bruce, Robert Cray, Zakk Wylde, and more. This has been some great listening!
