SNM’s ‘Golden Viled’ Review: Heavy Riffs And Raw Energy

Introduction

Today we review the latest song by SNM “Golden Viled”. If you recognise the bands name either you’re into some interesting activities… Or you remember our interview with them previously.

The band have changed in members slightly since then, but what hasn’t changed is their heavy riffs and raw energy. Check out the song and review below and don’t forget to follow the band on their socials!

SNM – Golden Viled (All Rights Are Retained By SNM)

The track begins in an unexpected manner, featuring 12 seconds of what can only be described as a guitar tuning up. It creates an interesting atmosphere, though I would have preferred it to be trimmed to no more than 5 seconds. However, it ultimately serves as an enticing audio tease for what is about to happen to your senses.

When that drum crashes in, boy does it hit the spot! Coupled with this almost sinister riff, I must say this is elite level instrumental craftsmanship. I’m not exaggerating when I say that if well-known bands like Avenged Sevenfold released this, I would be completely hooked! I appreciate how, as the guitar escalates in the track, the drums remain prominent rather than fading into the background.

I’m not entirely convinced by the initial vocals in this track, which I can only describe as an strange moan. While it aligns with the band’s name, I’m uncertain about its necessity in this song. However, when the actual vocals kick in, they are energetic, full of attitude and in your face.

“I can’t keep this f*cking act up!”

Remaining on the vocals, I find that I much prefer the last line of each verse because it lacks the emphasis placed on the final word of the previous lines. However, this is probably just a matter of personal preference. Unfortunately, there is one moment where a sliding guitar sound obscures the softer spoken vocals, which seems to be a minor production flaw in my eyes.

The guitar solo, about three-quarters into the track, is outstanding and truly highlights the band’s remarkable talent. This is undoubtedly the most cohesive sound they have ever produced, and the results show for themselves. The ending to the song is back to the brooding riffs and pounding drums, its certainly a great way to reach its climax.

Im left feeling that SNM’s “Golden Viled” is like being hit by a whip, but in a good way! Its fairly unique in its almost heavy metal/doom riffs mixed with in your face punk like vocals. This is a tact that this band should continue to take moving forward for sure.

8/10
