This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!
There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup
Rock
Plaiins – Row She Said.
Just turn this song on… The first section is filled to the brim with attitude and fuzzy riffs.
Special Mention: Smut – Touch & Go.
Metal
The Rasmus – Break These Chains ft Niko Vilhelm.
We recently reviewed “Creatures Of Chaos” and with this release as well this album is going to be incredible. The Rasmus has never been more relevant in recent times! The chorus for this song is really catchy. The addition to another of Finlands Eurovision entrants in Blind Channel only makes it even better!
Special Mention: Dinosaur Pile-Up – Big Dogs.
Metalcore
We Came As Romans – No Rest For The Dreamer.
This song has a real melodic feel. I am impressed by how the band managed to achieve the melodic element with harsh sounding clean vocals. This is catchy! The heavier vocals also tickle my interest.
Special Mention: Electric Callboy – Revery.
Punk
The Good The Bad And The Zugly – New Kids On The Blockchain.
It’s got that quick speed to really get into your bones! Norwegian band “The Good The Band And The Zugly” could well be ones to watch… I found the Cryptocurrency topic rather entertaining and the song itself stupidly catchy.
Special Mention: Special Features – Che Guevara T-Shirt.
Pop Punk
Honey Revenge – Risk.
I love the playful almost space vibe at the start of this song. Once the vocals come in they have that typical pop-punk styling that to be honest is damn addictive. I have to say also that the chorus got me to listen to this song multiple times. It also encouraged me to test out some more of their songs! I am impressed…
Special Mention: The Hype – Dark Days.
Alternative
Wet Leg – Catch These Fists.
I enjoy the opening riff as well as the I dont care style vocals. It is my first time hearing Wet Leg. I am starting to understand the hype that has been surrounding them for quite a while. “I don’t want your love I just wanna fight.” That line is going to get stuck in your head.
Special Mention:Man/Woman/Chainsaw – Adam & Steve.
Indie
Runnner – Achilles And.
This is one hell of a voice! The high range is absolutely incredible. This is the sort of music that I could happily stick on in the background for an entire afternoon. Binge worthy!
Special Mention: Hotline TNT – Break Rights
