What Is The Furthest Travel You Have Done For A Concert: Share Your Experience

As I am travelled back from Germany the other day after attending Orange Blossom Special Festival (OBS) I would love to know what is the furthest you have travelled for a gig/concert/festival?

If we take Germany out the equation then I think for myself it is actually only as far are Belfast. I went with my wife and friends to see Gavin DeGraw. The link is actually for the review of when we saw his last year. It was a really awesome show in Belfast with it also being the first time I had been to that city.

    Glasgow to Knebworth to see Queen in 1986 – ticket plus travel plus refreshments – £25!!!!!

    I could never afford to travel far for any concert. So I have only been to one in my entire life and that was during my teenage idol stage when I lived in NYC and me and my best friend traveled to Nassau Coliseum in Long Island to see David Cassidy in concert. As it was with the crowds and screams we missed the bus back to the train, had to get a taxi to the train, and her mom met us at about midnight at the train station in NYC.

        i suppose we did. With the screaming we could hardly hear him singing and luckily all of us teenage girls were jumping up and down on folding chairs and luckily no one got hurt. I would not do that now but then it seemed like we were having a blast,

    Drove 107 miles to see ZZ Top in concert at the University of South Carolina in like 1983/84. I think it was the eliminator tour.

    I try to avoid this as it’s more expensive and I prefer to have some money left over after a show so I tend to stick to local concerts.

        Stevenage by train from North London! It was a one-day festival, and they put on special trains. Ended up sleeping on the platform at Kings Cross afterwards as the Tube had stopped for the night. I lived in London, and there were so many gigs going on there that we rarely needed to go far. 😎

        i did, mostly. fun moments: got to eat fries and beer with the band members of NeonFly, and the singer of Jaguar came off the stage and took the ipad i was using to record and pranced around with it on stage lol

    From Charleston, SC to LA for a Bush concert. Gavin Rosdale and the entire band put on a fantastic show.

    The farthest was about a 2 hour drive. Page & Plant at the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington State usa (1998) Grateful I got to see them at all, after Bonham passed I thought that was it for my chances.

    I hit the road a lot as a teenager in the 90s to see tons of bands but it wasn’t until 2008 that I crossed all of the US and into the UK to see Foo Fighters at Wembley…and then from Germany back to US to see Green Day (and family, of course…) nearly a decade later. These days I’d just catch it on YouTube after the fact

        Yes, those were extreme but if I can build a vacation around a concert, I’m all for it. I wanted to try it for Oasis…and then I saw ticket prices.

    I went to Bristol, England to see a friend but we were also going to see Shawn Smith who was the lead singer of Brad. Amazing intimate show with just him and a piano. In the US, I drove to Chicago from upstate NY to see the Grateful Dead.

    I’ve been away to a few places and caught some shows that were complimentary tickets from the hotel. There was a cool all five girl show where they stated with the jitterbug and went into the dances through the years ending with Janet Jackson’s “Rythm Nation”. Shows around Tahoe and Vegas, Laughlin and Rio, but the furthest I went, was to a REO Speedwagon concert at the Tampa Expo Hall in 1995.
