For myself I think I’m a fairly big fan, with some flaws too. I really enjoy the fast paced speed of the songs for sure. I also enjoy the rebellious nature of the lyrics.

Ramones – Blitzkrieg Bop (All Rights Are Retained By Ramones)

I think the aggression on display too is really important to the sound. Lets also take a moment to truly appreciate the hairstyles and clothing, now those are seriously cool.

Sex Pistols – Anarchy In The UK (All Rights Are Retained By Sex Pistols)

I also adore the offshoot genres like hardcore and pop-punk, which would not have existed otherwise. I do however have somewhat of an issue with the over political nature of the songs as music is normally my escape from day to day life.

The Clash – Complete Control (All Rights Are Retained By The Clash)

I do also sometimes think that it can be too simplistic, like on occasion even feeling unfinished which is really weird to me. However I am sure those will be the exact reasons why someone loves punk! For me I think for the mass majority of my listening I prefer something a bit more technical, but with the occasional flirt with punk!

    I adore punk, especially American hard-core punk from the early 80s to the mid 80s and the early 90s.

    I liked some punk, the Sex Pistols mainly. I have a CD somewhere, but I haven’t listened in ages. Time to get it out and put it on! 😂

    ooOOOo my era. I loved punk. Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, add in Wall of Voodoo, the Cramps, Siouxsie & Banshees, Gang of Four, Bad Brains, all your picks were great fun. I worked in record stores 1978 – 1981. James White & the Blacks were good too. Nostalgia lol

    It’s never been my thing, not really, but there’s a lot I admire in it. Not a fan of the Sex Pistols but I like the Clash. The attitude was, perhaps, necessary – but also downright unpleasant at times.

    The Offspring have some great songs, and American Idiot is one of the best albums ever. I’d also put the Levellers in with punk as they’re so rough and raw and political.

    Pure punk only works in small doses, though, for me at least

    I really shouldn’t be typing these words; however, I am typing these words. My relationship with “punk” is extremely tangential and questionable. While I will always turn up The Clash and their “Rock the Casbah,” I am suspect when I give the same respect to The Dead Milkmen’s “Punk Rock Girl.” I was never firmly anchored in “punk” due to its dynamic nature, and so talking about it (like I am now) makes me very self-critical. LOL!. As an irony, I would find “post-punk” to be my personal tomb. I love your prompts. Keep it up, you fox you:)

        That is a very fine question, Mr. Fox. I am very afraid it is like asking me how electrical signals penetrate my ears and become the tide of emotions that post-punk kicks off in my head. It’s like asking me, “What is the point of vanilla?” I have nothing for you but an answer steeped in emotions. But I will take stab. It’s the drug of melancholy. Melancholy in my inexpert opinion requires a format like in Poe’s poems. There’s a wall to lean against or faint against. There’s a dark tide that seeks to drown you, surround you, possess you. I could murmur on, but I’ll spare you. I might have to take this up on my blog soon. Thanks for the prompt, Sir Fox!

    From what started out and an underground art form, this raw, simple, energetic, anti-everythingthatwedon’tlike music had a greater influence than most people realize.

    Suicidal Tendencies has stood the test of time. Hope I didn’t trigger an algorithm. Dead Kennedys is overtly political but they get away with it for the sheer audacity of their music. There’s a band called The Get Up Kids from my part of the world that most people would call pop punk or emo but I say they’re the real deal.
