This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!
There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup
Rock
NewDad – Roobosh.
I love the aggressive nature that the clean vocals are sung in. It never seems too much in your face but it gets the point across. I’m a sucker for female vocals so this was a perfect storm. I haven’t actually heard of the band before so this is a great find!
Special Mention: The Rasmus – Love Is A Bitch.
Metal
Black Orchid Empire – Blood God.
First of all how cool is that song title! Most of the time when I pick a metal song its a heavier one, but this is the opposite. With almost soft vocals over crashing drums and thunderous bass this hits different!
Special Mention: Amorphis – Bones.
Metalcore
No Kings – Sisyphus.
I really like in this song how the harsh vocals are used more as a backing tone for the clean vocalist. Who by the way has a cracking voice. The instruments all do a fantastic job too!
Special Mention: Sickill – Consume.
Punk
Pushing Veronica – Wasted.
This song feels like a middle finger. And that is exactly what punk is supposed to be. With a mixture of vocal stylings its a song that might take a couple of listens but I feel like these guys are going to explode in popularity.
Special Mention: Restraining Order – Know Not.
Pop Punk
Stay For Well – Bubblegum.
Looks like these guys based in Japan are a fresh band on the scene. I honestly think you cannot tell. It’s got that feel good factor all pop punk songs need. Liking this a lot!
Special Mention: Wheelbite – Coping.
Alternative
Tmdistant – All I Know Is… I’d Go Blind For You.
The best thing about alternative is that is covers so much ground! Here we have Tmdistant with a really cool almost pop/rap vibe on the vocals without ever losing the rock element too!
Special Mention: Wet Leg – Mangetout.
Indie
Liang Lawrence – A Day Off In Margaritaville.
You know what sometimes I really like to dial it back to just a truly lovely voice to listen to. Sure its still got the instruments to go alongside it, but it feels fresh to me. And its got a really nice light nature, and don’t forget a really cool guitar solo!
Special Mention: Sex Week – Lone Wolf.
