This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!
There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup
Rock
Twenty One Pilots – Drum Show.
Twenty One Pilots have always filled a really odd position in the rock and other genres space. This tune is on the rockier side of their offerings and as the track progresses I feel it only gets stronger!
Special Mention: Three Days Grace – Don’t Wanna Go Home Tonight.
Metal
Nomy – Bad Days.
I like the defiant nature this song has. The different tones that Swedish metal singer Nomy produces is rather impressive! I have noticed that this is a bit of an earworm too. I expect to hear a lot more of his music moving forward.
Special Mention: We Came As Romans – One By One.
Metalcore
Part Paladin – Anunnaki.
Whoa, what a voice! This is on the lighter side of metalcore and some will say it isnt… But that section towards 2:30 shows me it sure as hell is! It gets heavy, and then some.
Special Mention: We Came As Romans – Because We’re Doomed.
Punk
Hot Mulligan – It Smells Like Fudge Axe In Here.
This has an almost pop like underbelly in the way that its pretty melodic, despite harsh vocals and 100% being punk. I like the way it flows.
Special Mention: Dinosaur Pile-Up – I’ve Felt Better.
Pop Punk
Saticoy – Want It All.
This has all the indicators of a great pop-punk song… Attitude, great flow and for some reason feminine sounding vocals. That seemed to be the thing back in the day and this is something this band have continued.
Special Mention: Yellowcard – Bedroom Posters.
Alternative
SONS – All Gold.
So strictly speaking this came out 2 weeks ago but I somehow missed this banger! Straight out of what I call my perfect gaming playlist this more than hits the formula. Belgium based band SONS are not a band I have heard of before, and that should be a crime! “Is it all gold? Is it, Is it?”
Special Mention: Saliva – Adrenaline.
Indie
Wolf Alice – Just Two Girls.
So this is why people like Wolf Alice! I am ashamed to admit till now I just didn’t get it. But the almost ABBA like tune and vocal delivery combined with dreamy overtones and great drumming, does it for me!
Special Mention: Royel Otis – Who’s Your Boyfriend.
Fox’s Ranking
1st Place: SONS
2nd Place: Nomy
3rd Place: Saticoy
4th Place: Twenty One Pilots
5th Place: Hot Mulligan
