This is “From The Archives” a feature where we take a trip back to a previous decade and discuss an album! We will talk about highlight tracks that should not be missed. As well as reasons why we think the album was so influential and successful.
The Album Breakdown
The final studio album by Cream “Goodbye” has both live tracks and studio recordings on it. This is very much the end of an era with the supergroup being insanely popular. They are also widely considered as the first supergroup , something which is done a lot these days. Ginger Baker, Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce go down in the history books as legends!
Badge stands out from the rest of the tracks, with its blend of guitar riffs that are sharper than knives not to mention a cameo from A Beatle! Mr Harrison played rhythm guitar on the track and it really elevated it.
What a bringdown I feel is the track on the album that really shows off the skills of Ginger Baker with it adding a moody layer as well as expressing the bands experimental side too.
The low light for me however is the live tracks, I just don’t feel like they should be on the album! Overall though this album is a bittersweet goodbye to a group that were geniuses but also had their fair share of creative tensions.
Cream always rises to the top!
