It’s the time of the week that we highlight one of our favourite new releases. This time its The Reckoning (Last Sunset Remix) by Parker Woodland. Read a little about the song in the band’s own words. Then, listen to it once or fifty times!
Song Background Information
“The Reckoning” serves as “World’s on Fire”’s bomb siren sequel, with crushing guitar and drums from bandmates Andrew Solin and Keri Cinquina, and lyrics lamenting the toll that hate, consumerism, and the whims of billionaires like Elon Musk take on the world.
“All this greed / Needs a sacrifice / Now or never / Leave it all behind Building spaceships, wasting time / I don’t think we’re getting out alive”
Walter says, “At shows, the ‘Reckoning’ lyric about not getting out alive freaks some people out because I’m known for being so upbeat. Don’t get me wrong, I still have hope, but I mean those words as a wake up call, because it’s clear humanity will not survive the way we are treating each other and the earth.”
