Suzi Quatro UK Tour 2026: Memories and Fan Reactions

Suzi, you’re going on a 10 date UK tour next year in 2026. Can you tell us what you think to the crowds in the UK and a fond memory you have of touring there?

Touring has never been a memory because it’s been ongoing for 61 years now… I see old fans from 1973 with their kids, and their kids with their kids. It has always been a joy to play the UK – I am your adopted Essex girl via Detroit! I have been living there since 31st October 1971 – and that’s a long time!

Is there a musician/band who in recent times has caught your eye that you love?

I tend to stick with my teenage years for my real loves, however Ed Sheeran is a good writer, Adele is a good singer, and there are some good bands coming up again thank goodness!

62 Years in Music: Suzi Quatro’s Secrets to a Long and Successful Career

I noticed that you have been in the business for an amazing 62 years, could you tell us the secret to a long career as a musician? Also what is it that keeps you performing?

Yes 62 years starting in 2026! I get asked this a lot. The truth is, it is the air I breathe. The first gig I did at age 14 in a club with our all girl band, The Pleasure Seekers, I went on stage, looked down at the crowd and said to myself “I am home!” I think that answers the question. The only secret is loving what you do and making sure you do it 150% every time.

Suzi Quatro – If You Can’t Give Me Love (All Rights Are Retained By Suzi Quatro)

Would you be able to tell us something about Suzi the person, rather than Suzi the rock goddess that others won’t already know?

I am a Scrabble nut, both the board game and online. I love word games, I get the circular word wheel in the newspapers where all the nine letters makes one word, and see it in five seconds!  I love poetry, I’m about to release my third poetry book. I am also a movie buff and will watch something I love fifty times.

Glam Rock Icon: Suzi Quatro on Music, Hits, and Underrated Songs

As a Glam Rock icon, what is it in particular you enjoy about that subgenre of rock music?

I was never glam rock as such – I have always been rock based, but started having my hits in this era so got classified as glam. I didn’t wear any make up, wore a plain leather suit, and only one platform – the boy bands wore all the glitz and glam, I was the complete opposite! Saying that though, it was a fun era. Every band had a different image. Good times!

Suzi Quatro tour 2026

I would love to know the story behind the hit song “Can the Can”, was it inspired by a particular person or something more widespread?

I was and am very American and ‘can it’ was something I used to say. When you want to keep something safe you say ‘can it’!

What do you think your most underrated song is, and why do you think that might be?

Thats a hard one as there are a few… but I don’t know about underrated! B side Roman Fingers just came to mind, and Little Bitch Blue, another b side. These are the old catalogue. From my new records, Strings is a good one from No Control.

Achievements and the Legendary Ego Room: Suzi Quatro’s Milestones

I’ve heard the legendary tales of your Ego Room, what made you set out just one room for your achievements? Also how do you think doing this has helped you as a person?

I’ve always collected everything right from the start, starting with hotel keys in 1964! I’ve kept all the Pleasure Seekers and Cradle memorabilia, then when I started having my own hits I made scrapbooks and kept all videos etc. I wanted to remember my journey every step of the way.

It’s all in one room at my home, you have to go up two flights of stairs and walk down a very crooked hallway, nearly banging your head, then you get to a heavy wooden door with a plaque reading ‘Ego room, mind your head’, then you can go in and enjoy the memories! It’s the quietest room in the house. Important thing is once you come out you shut the door. This is how I keep balanced and grounded at all times.

Suzi Quatro & KT Tunstall – Shine A Light (All Rights Are Retained By Suzi Quatro & KT Tunstall)

Speaking of achievements, what would you quantify as your biggest? And why?

Your first number one is of course a biggie! First big concert where everyone paid to see only you, this was in Hamburg.  First big tours, everywhere, including Japan and Australia, first acting job on Happy Days as Leather Tuscadero, first musical on the West End Annie Get Your Gun, first TV show Gas Street, first radio pecial 15 Years on BBC Radio 2, being nominated for broadcaster of the year award, first book, my autobiography Unzipped, and I’m about to release my 8th book. And of course becoming Honorary Doctor of Music in 2016.

The QSP Band: Formation, Songwriting, and Behind-the-Scenes Stories

I would love to know how the QSP band came about, and was it an experience you enjoyed?

We did lots of gigs together for my husband when he was promoting throughout Germany and he had this idea to put myself, Andy and Don together to make an album. We finally found the right time. It was a great album getting to number 16 in Australia, we are good friends and very proud of what we created.

Continuing the QSP theme, how did you write the songs, together or separately?

Andy had one solo track, I had one solo track, and we all got to select the same amount of covers. We wrote some for the album together too – the ones we wrote were done together of course, not separate!

Imagining ‘Devil Gate Drive’: Suzi Quatro’s Iconic Song Brought to Life

I would love for you to describe to me exactly what “Devil Gate Drive” would look like if it were a real place if that is possible?

It would be that heaving, sweaty place full of kids having a good time, music blaring, cars outside revving their engines, beer being consumed, dancing, screaming and shouting, rebelling in every possible way as only teenagers can do. It’s the place your parents always told you ‘Don’t go there’, however of course that is where you would go. A no brainer.

Collaborations and Working with Family: Suzi Quatro’s Musical Partnerships

You had the opportunity to work with your son Richard on a couple of albums! Can you tell us a little bit about those records and that experience?

He is a very talented boy. Kept it hidden for many years until he came to me in 2019 and said, ‘Mum, I need to write some songs with you’. We wrote 3 songs, were making demos and just having fun, then all of a sudden it got serious and we were making an album.

No Control released in 2019 charted and got amazing reviews, then in 2021, The Devil In Me, did the same thing – Richard found his feet then! He also produced ‘Face to Face’ my duet album with KT Tunstall and Uncovered, my six track ep.

He is producing and cowriting my next solo album which is nearly done and scheduled for early 2026. He writes great, he plays great, and he produces great. I’m very proud of him.

We have spoken a couple of times already about collaborations, I would love to know though are there any future collaborations you would like to be a part of going forward. Or are you happier performing with your own band?

I love performing with my nine piece band doing my two hour solo shows with interval it is my dream show and I have been doing this for many years, however there are discussions for a Suzi and friends album next!

Suzi Quatro’s Impact on Women in Rock Music

Finally you have done so much for women in rock! How proud are you of all the strong women fronting bands these days?

My documentary Suzi Q came out in 2019. I went to the premier at Regents Theatre in London and all the big women in rock came forward and said on camera ‘we would not have done what we did if Suzi hadn’t done it first’ – I never got it at all until that point and I started to cry. Now I get it and will take this to my grave.

Love Suzi. Wasn’t born when she was (first) in the charts but I was a huge fan of glam when I was 18. Saw her at a local free festival but the sound wasn’t great where I was and I could barely see her – and no-one in my group cared except me! Glad she’s doing well

It was all great but what I dig the most is that lady is still going strong all these years later and so cool she’s working with her son too. Reading your interview compelled me to dig up and relisten to a few of her old songs and some later ones that had me reminiscing.
