If You Could Only Listen To One Rock Song For The Rest Of Your Life – What’s Your Pick?”

For this segment we want to ask you a rock related question and have you answer it in the comments section below! We will also give our own thoughts that you can discuss with us.

Question

If You Could Only Listen To One Rock Song For The Rest Of Your Life — What’s Your Pick?”

Fox’s Thoughts

My pick has to be Ace Of Spades by Motorhead. I don’t even have to think about it any more than that. It is a song to me that never gets old. The raw pounding driven energy, Lemmy’s unique voice. Not to mention that thunderous bass line where the bass is being played like a guitar! So yes I would pick this song, but I want to know what song are you picking and why?

This question makes me really sad, thinking about the songs I won’t be able to hear any longer…but, that said, “Heroes” by David Bowie. If i could have a second chance (yes, I’m pushing my luck), it would be Bowie’s “Station to Station.” Both excellent examples of prog rock.

Ah.man… I can’t make that call.. there’s too many… but since I must.. I will go with “Through These Eyes” by Social Distortion… because it’s my testimony song.. it describes the crazy events in my life.. and it’s an awesome song–awesome band.. all their freakin’ songs are great! Mike Ness is special

If it’s only one song, I’d need it to be something longer and interesting enough to allow me to listen to individual parts and pieces. I think The Camera Eye by Rush would be a good one. Great lyrics, changing rhythms, and interesting enough to allow repeated listening.

I would prefer one group, not just one song. I need variety and The Beatles have that.

If it plays on loop 24/7 til’ I die… then it may not matter my choice… it’s just going to turn into a Chinese Water Tortune Tune… haha

Yeah I’d probably go with “through these eyes” by social distortion.. just because it’s my testimony song.. might as well die to a song that described my life… while it lasted…

Definitely Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen always has and will remind me of my high school days, my friends, teen idols like David Cassidy, dancing to our favorite tunes, my first boyfriend the love of my life then and so much more. I blast that song and smile with misty eyes,

Still thinking about this, but the song would have to have variety.

“Funeral For A Friend”/“Love Lies Bleeding” and “Foreplay”/“Long Time” are each technically two songs, so that would be cheating.

    Hmmm…maybe “Knights of Cydonia.”

    Or “Stairway.”

    Decisions…

How can I pick just one? Okay, if I have to choose it’d be ‘Brown Sugar’ by the Stones. I’m not keen on dancing these days, but that one gets me up every time. Keef’s guitar, Mick’s vocals … take your pick as to the ‘why’. It’s just great. 🙂

Well, ain’t this an impossible question? I think it’d have to be fairly long, with different emotions, and be sufficiently open to interpretation to withstand multiple listens. But not Bohemian Rhapsody.

So: Tool – just about anything

    Radiohead – Paranoid Android

    REM – Country Feedback

Bowie – many possibilities; I’ve heard Life on Mars too many times, so maybe Absolute Beginners (the extended version with the sax), Hallo Spaceboy, or Slip Away?

    Decemberists – The Bagman’s Gambit

I dunno. Good job I never have to actually make this choice. Maybe I’d just bin all my criteria and go with The Crimea’s Baby Boom?

Ask me tomorrow and I’ll have another dozen suggestions for you

I choose ‘Visions of Johanna’ by Bob Dylan. I think it’s Dylan’s greatest song, and rock’s greatest song too. It has outstanding lyrics, a great tune, and it describes not only the confusion of the times, but the confusion of life itself. A work of pure genius!

Wow, what a question! There are too many good ones to choose from but I guess I have to go with the rock song I’ve been listening to the longest since it kind of fits the question… Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. One of my earliest memories is of this song playing at a party that was going on around me and I just liked the way the guitar sounded but everyone around me was giving my dad a hard time for listening to “white boy music” and I didn’t get it b/c…Free Bird!

So, long story short, I’d choose that b/c I’ve already been listening to it practically all my life so what’s a few more decades? But secretly I’m weeping for all the others…

The Seeds, of course! Who could have inspired, copied by so many from the Doors, to the Stooges, Lou Reed, Pattie Smith, and so many others.

Even today, their raw, youthful energy, their devil may care attitude is all that Rock &Roll is supposed to be about: Pushing Too Hard 🙂

Wow, that’s a tough one. Do I look to my goto artists? The Beatles, Linda Ronstadt, Kansas, ELP, Sweet, Billy Joel? Or specific songs? Wait, here’s an idea — since you only said song, not the same version, I think I might have to go with something that been released many times by different artists (so there is some variety). So, With a Little Help From My Friends
