Today for the 11th instalment of Set The Tone With… We are joined by the Australian/German power rock duo Powder For Pigeons! The band splice alternative rock with elements of punk and metal. Want to know something cool? Singer/Guitarist Rhys makes his own guitars out of Aussie wood! Completing the band is drummer Meike who crafted her trade in LA. The premise behind this post type is to get an insight into the daily lives of the bands that we love! We have given them some situations to attribute a song to and let us know why that song in particular is perfect!
You can check out the answers the band gave below, as well as jam out to the tunes they picked. Want to listen to the complete collection from this segment? Click the Spotify link below!
What is the perfect song for the gym?
Well that would have to be “Burning inside” by Ministry because it’s five minutes of supercharged mayhem and great to burn fat to!
What is your go to happy song, when you’re angry or sad?
Definitely “Bird Attack” by Aussie band Frenzal Rhomb. How could this banger of a tune not make ya have a good old chuckle.
The perfect song to put on while cooking?
The Mark Of Cain “Familiar Territory” gets us fired right up to cook a extra spicy dish every bloody time.
The wind down song at the end of a long day to get you to sleep?
We can’t go past the song “Drinkin too much” by The Kill Devil Hills after a hard day and a few tinnies it’ll have you in a trance and ready for a bit of shut eye in no time!
The song by Powder For Pigeons that you are most proud of?
The song we are most proud of to date is “Ruff” off our new album. It has plenty of round riffs that are rad to play live and the song has a good dose of cheek to it. On the the flip side this tune sums up our last two years that were full of challenges. The video clip was shot in the sand dunes of Lancellin Western Australia.
Your all time favourite rock song?
Helmet “Exactly What You Wanted”. But it changes on a weekly basis.
The perfect song to set the mood on a date?
Have to go with Primus “My Name Is Mud”. True story: it was the tune we listened to on our first date followed by watching Primus live later that evening in a club in Hamburg.
A song by an amazing local band we might not know about?
From Bamberg, Germany: Mandrax Queen “Hit me hard”. Great band, Cool fellas.
The perfect pre show song to amp you up?
It became our thing to warm up to ACDC “Live Wire”. It’s got everything one needs to get fired right up before a show. Plus Bon Scotts sleazy vocals puts a smile on our dial.
A great song you think Fox Reviews Rock won’t have heard before?
Lubricated Goat “In The Raw”.
