New Rock Roundup
Rock
Aerosmith & Yungblud – Wild Woman.
Another hit from the minds of Aerosmith and Yungblud. I don’t know why their styles mesh so perfectly well together but they do. I also get a Bon Jovi vibe on this song not sure why. The alternation between singers is really effective.
Metal
Bad Omens – Left For Good.
I like the driving undertone in this song, it feels evil in nature. What I am certain of though is that the chorus is catchy!!!
Metalcore
The Pretty Wild – Zero.Point.Genesis.
For people that are not fans of harsh vocals look away. But the combination of the two singers has me interested. With deep cuts on the bass and guitar this feels fully fleshed out and man is it meaty.
Punk
Glitterer – Until.
I am going post-hardcore this week with my punk pick. The toned down drums and bass at the start of this song against the almost shouting vocals makes this intriguing. See not all punk needs to be 100mph.
Pop Punk
Good Charlotte – Fairytale Of New York.
Is it too early for Christmas songs? Yeah maybe. But regardless this is a fun upbeat version of this classic! I like the pop-punk stylings on this song and it is something won’t have heard before. So have at it!
Alternative
Shinedown – Searchlight.
This is another expansive hit from Shinedown. A band that I have slowly gone off over the years because they have left their roots behind. That being said I really like the slower number they have produced here, with emotional lyrics. The violin adds something and in general this feels like a return to basics. A welcome one.
Indie
Westside Cowboy – Can’t See.
A fun and bouncy Indie rock song, something perfect for a Monday I would say! This isn’t going to win any awards I don’t think but it sure as hell put a smile on my face.
