What Is The Best Song By The Cure

Fox’s Recommendations

What do I like the best about this song? It proved that the masters of melancholy could write a song about joy! The playful guitars, major-key and bouncy rhythm makes this song irresistible to me! It is also their most radio friendly hit too, although just because a band sings about sad things should not mean they don’t get air time!

Do you want emotional vulnerability in your soundtrack? Then this is the song for you. It shows surface level brightness concealing inner heartache. This song pointed out to everyone that being sensitive did not mean you were weak. It is an emotional, honest, beautiful song.

Fox’s Wildcard

With its hypnotic bass and haunting reverb this song highlighted the bands move from post-punk into a more gothic space. The repetition here is its strength as well as great use of space. It isn’t a radio friendly hit for sure but the detached vocals create this feeling of distance that I can’t get enough of.

Their catalogue is reasonably extensive so a difficult choice, but I think Just Like Heaven would be my favourite.

That is a fantastic choice to be fair. But as you say its really hard to pick one!

“A Forest” is amazing—both the original version and the longer “Robert Palmer” version.

Out of these three, “A Forest,” hands down. I love the ethereal moodiness. But, my all-time Cure “favorite” is any track on the recently released album “Songs of a Lost World.” Robert Smith’s voice has never sounded stronger and more emotive. It floored me how much I loved this collection when I first heard it.

I love the Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me album, with the opener The Kiss being an instrumentally great track. Off the same album, I also love the very simple Catch.

I’m really torn between “Charlotte Sometimes” and “Disintegration.” Its certainly the best song on that album.

A Forest is a really good one, and of course Friday I’m In Love, but I’d have to go with Lovesong
