It has been a great year in the realms of all things rock! What better way to celebrate the brilliant new releases of 2025 by counting down our favourites.
Band Background
Showing that Australian bands have talent in spades are the four-piece psych rockers Turtle Skull. Initially introduced to their music by Dingir Zu the loving from us has not stopped. With lush synths over atmospheric and at times experimental sounds the band know what they are doing. You can find them on our song of the week playlist too!
What’s Good About This Album
Being only eight songs long, everyone needs to be a corker and for the most part they are. Sometimes those songs are heavy and others are psychedelic. Either way the listening experience is great. The production on the album has been done really amazing bearing in mind there is often A LOT going on at the same time. If you love fuzz then this is going to satisfy that too.
Favourite Tracks
With surging guitars amongst a synth heavy background the psych vibe generated means the band don’t need to go do heavy here. Lyrically it focuses on needing to escape from your mind and embracing the world around you.
I would say that their songs don’t always feature a chorus that is mega catchy. But that is 100% not the case here. Alongside plenty of fuzz and great tempo the combination is this old sounding track with refreshing new textures.
