A-Z Of Rock: O Part 1

Welcome to our weekly alphabet themed rock post! In this post we will talk about a specific letter of the alphabet and associate it with all things rock music!

This will include a band with that letter, a song as well as a rocker. There is an accompanying playlist so that the selected songs can be enjoyed! Click the Spotify link below and remember to save it!

Band

Known for blending death metal with progressive rock , the Swedish band play with dynamic contrasts and acoustic melodies with sections of songs let alone the full song.

Opeth – Ghost Of Perdition (All Rights Are Retained By Opeth)

Song

This is without question of of Metallica’s most powerful songs, purely based on the emotional element to it. It is a story about a soldier who loses all his limbs and senses in war. It has a really haunting introduction and a cracking finale.

Metallica – One (All Rights Are Retained By Metallica)

Rocker

The Prince Of Darkness himself, was not only the original frontman of Black Sabbath but as a solo artist too he helped define Heavy Metal. With plenty of theatre to his style and dark and personal lyrics he has inspired many bands. He recently passed so I raise this glass to you Oz you legend!

Ozzy Osbourne – Bark At The Moon (All Rights Are Retained By Ozzy Osbourne)

If you weren’t aware, Metallica’s “One” is based on a movie, which in turn is based on a book, Johnny Got His Gun, by Dalton Trumbo. Both the book and the movie are excellent.

I remember clips of the movie from the music video, but never watched it or read Trumbo’s book.
