Artist Background
The first solo artist on the list and that feels odd to write bearing in mind she is known for being the frontwoman for Paramore. Hayley Williams is back with her 3rd solo album this time released on her own record label. Blending together pop/rock and indie it shows her experimental side.
What’s Good About This Album
Sometimes you want to feel the emotions of the artist. This is one of those times as Williams is at her most vulnerable. Blended well with experimentation and variety she plays multiple instruments throughout the album too! Lyrics focus on trauma, grief, identity and heartbreak. At times it feels almost too honest like we should not know all this, but that is what makes it real.
Favourite Tracks
Coming out of chaos is this wonderful piano led ballad which metamorphosises into alt-rock. Focused on heartbreak and loss it speaks to the pain of being betrayed by someone you trust. This is laying it all on the table.
With a real pop-rock feel to it, it feels light and breezy. Throughout her vocals are being tested sometimes to demonstrate fragility and other times tweaked to show disorientation. It feels almost confessional in nature, something I feel at times is over sharing.
