From The Archives: 60s Vol 6 – The Animals – Animal Tracks

This is “From The Archives” a feature where we take a trip back to a previous decade and discuss an album! We will talk about highlight tracks that should not be missed. As well as reasons why we think the album was so influential and successful.

The Album Breakdown

This album captures the bands R & B phase which blended blues with early rock n rock. It really showed off the commanding vocals.

Strengths

The blues soaked vocals give the album a real grit. The interpretation of blues gives the album an authentic feel.

Weaknesses

Some of the arrangements are fairly simplistic, their later work is much more adventurous.

Highlight Tracks

The bluesy and soulful rendition captures deep groove. The tight instrumentals showcases the bands early sound.

The Animals – I Believe To My Soul (All Rights Are Retained By The Animals)

An upbeat version of a classic blues song, they bring their own rock edge to it though. It makes you want to get up and dance!

Excellent early blues-based rock. One of the things I like about these early 60s recordings is the raw sound on many of them. This rock and roll stuff was still relatively new, and bands were playing for the love of the music. Well, and the girls.
