New Rock Roundup Vol 38

This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!

There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup

Rock

Normandie – Guilt By Association.

I thought I would bring you something a little different in the rock category this week! Normandie have a way of crafting choruses that are not only catchy but stick in your head. The drum and bass inspired start to the song and beat throughout make this different and enjoyable.

Metal

Ice Nine Kills ft Mckenna Grace – Twisting The Knife.

So it should not be a shock to see me listing this song here. Ice Nine Kills are phenomenal. This has to be the slower of all their numbers that I have loved. And I mean it I LOVE this! The collaboration with McKenna Grace has landed it a spot in the closing credits for Scream 7. Ice Nine Kills are THE band if you want a horror inspired song, this is no different. Bravo.

Metalcore

Poppy – Dying To Forget.

Ok so this is going to be either in the love or hate camp and I know that even right now when picking it. It fully delves into the heavier side of Poppy and comes at you like an assault to the senses. It does still however have a bright and poppy (Intended…) chorus that you can sing along to.

Punk

Wine Lips – Semi-Detached Furnished Home.

A brilliant social commentary on the state of the world at the moment in terms of cost of living. I could relate in parts and I know that load of other people will too! It’s wrapped up in a pacey punky bow that I think is catchy enough to hook people into listening to it.

Wine Lips – Semi-Detached Furnished Home (All Rights Are Retained By Wine Lips)

Pop Punk

New Found Glory – A Love Song.

For saying how lovey dovey this song is, New Found Glory have found a way of making me genuinely liking it! The pop-punk band have a formula which is pretty flexible and here I am transported back to when I first heard them. This is a fun hit!

Alternative

Here And Everywhere – Embrace.

Favourites of ours Here And Everywhere have released yet another hit! I love the slower pace here, which to be honest is a bit different out of their wheelhouse. With excellent production and heavenly vocals this deserves to be heard.

Here And Everywhere – Embrace (All Rights Are Retained By Here And Everywhere)

Indie

Usted Senalemelo ft Portugal. The Man – Dando Vueltas.

So people that know me well know that I love songs that are listenable while not in English (On the most part here)! There is just something about this song that gets me moving, the bass is there for all to hear too. Having Indie rockers Portugal. The Man on the tune helps a hell of a lot too! Give this a go, but don’t be amazed if you are still listening to this hours later.
