Fox’s Recommendations

Arguably their only true mainstream song, it balances riffs with melody despite the prog rock underbelly. It probably has been the introduction to prog for many people and in this case I approve, despite not being big into prog myself. The vocals are excellent, both in sound and their place in the mix.

If you like your constantly evolving rock then this is for you! It generates that distinct prog metal atmosphere and to be honest, this is one of the best drumming performances ever. Bravo Mr Portnoy.

Fox’s Wildcard

I bet you didn’t think I’d be including a ballad on this list! It includes elements that break past their usual formula to say the least. With the gospel inspired chorus being a particular high point.
