Set The Tone With… Ruena

Today for the next instalment of Set The Tone With…Ruena!

Set The Tone With

The premise behind this post type is to get an insight into the daily lives of the bands that we love! We have given them some situations to attribute a song to and let us know why that song in particular is perfect!

You can check out the answers the band gave below, as well as jam out to the tunes they picked. Want to listen to the complete collection from this segment? Click the Spotify link below!

What is the perfect song for the gym?

Silvera – Gojira – absolute beast of a song. It’s very cinematic too so you can imagine yourself in a battle scene. Warning – It will induce stank face though, without fail – So just be aware if you’re in public!

Gojira – Silvera (All Rights Are Retained By Gojira)

What is your go to happy song, when you’re angry or sad?

Girls, Girls, Girls – Motley Crue. Come on, from the second you hear the revving, you know what it is and you can’t not smile! I grew up on glam metal so it teleports me to being a carefree teenager and reminds me to try not to be so serious, anger and sadness fade.

Motley Crue – Girls, Girls, Girls (All Rights Are Retained By Motley Crue)

The perfect song to put on while cooking?

Fortunate Son – Creedence Clearwater Revival. Also my go to summer driving song.

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Fortunate Son (All Rights Are Retained By Creedence Clearwater Revival)

The wind down song at the end of a long day to get you to sleep?

AURORA – Through The Eyes Of A Child (All Rights Are Retained By AURORA)

Through the eyes of a child – Aurora. I love Aurora, she’s got a huge catalogue it’s hard to pick, but this song is so peaceful, and the overall ambience is like sleeping in the woods, surrounded by nature – and that to me is calming.

The song by Ruena that you are most proud of?

Ruena – The Tide (All Rights Are Retained By Ruena)

The Tide which came out in October – it’s probably the most personal lyrically and the chorus is a bit weird (think Lady Gaga goes goth metal) but I love it and I’m proud I didn’t let myself talk myself out of it. Other than that – Just Because It Breathes – is also a very proud moment for me because recording this song was when I first started scream vocals so I’ll always be proud of this song for making me UNLEASH.

Your all time favourite rock song?

Pearl Jam – Even Flow (All Rights Are Retained By Pearl Jam)

This one is so hard to narrow down, there’s so many!! But I’m gonna go with Even Flow – Pearl Jam because finding the wildness and raw energy of grunge as a young teen was what made me be a singer. And I must’ve listened to the Ten album 40000 times.

The perfect song to set the mood on a date?

Massive Attack – Angel (All Rights Are Retained By Massive Attack)

Angel – Massive Attack – In the words of Alan Partridge – it’s basically sex music.

A song by an amazing local band we might not know about?

Haggard Cat – Water Me Down (All Rights Are Retained By Haggard Cat)

Water Me Down – Haggard Cat. It’s off their Cheer Up EP, massive riffs, sick breakdown, just a rager of a song and absolutely goes OFF live. Plus they’re absolute diamonds and it’s truly incredible how big a sound 2 people can make!

The perfect pre show song to amp you up?

Nova Twins – Cleopatra (All Rights Are Retained By Nova Twins)

Cleopatra – Nova Twins. Just makes you feel like an absolute invincible boss, and you need that pre-show!

A great song you think Fox Reviews Rock won’t have heard before?

Bambie Thug – Egregore (All Rights Are Retained By Bambie Thug)

Egrecore – Bambie Thug. They have blown up recently (as they should because they’re awesome and the theatrics of the live shows are amazing). You might know it already but if not then give it a listen cause its a banger!
