Architects are a real hit and miss band for me, and one band that I am yet to see live. However that is something that will change this year thankfully. This song is a firm favourite of mine and that start to the song gets me ready for my gym sets everytime.

Architects – Doomsday (All Rights Are Retained By Architects)
Rex

Fall Out Boy – We Didn’t Start The Fire

I love the original Billy Joel version, but I’m happy that one of my favourite bands made an updated version

Fall Out Boy – We Didn’t Start The Fire (All Rights Retained By Fall Out Boy)
St Jimmy

Jimi Hendrix – Purple Haze

Started listening to more classic rock lately, can’t beat a bit of Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix – Purple Haze (All Rights Retained By Jimi Hendrix)

So, honestly, I don’t like FOB’s cover of WDSTF.

I love the original (except the line about Brooklyn having a winning team, boo), but what makes the original so brilliant is that Billy Joel actually tells a story of world history from one point to another, while keeping the rhythm and rhyme. FOB just put a bunch of random events in random order, and that completely misses the point of the song, that history is a string of events that have a coherent order that leads to causes and effects, and we didn’t start this, and we won’t stop it.

I think todays youth will feel disconnected from the original itl sound just as random as the newer version to be fair 🤷‍♂️

That’s a fair point. I was 13 when the original song was released, and some of the names and events mentioned in the song I didn’t know much about at the time. It wasn’t until adulthood that I realized just how brilliant it really was.

Yeah! In this day and age the youth couldnt care less about the past unfortunately, i suspect the FOB version is outdated for them too!

Experience Hendrix / The Best Of Jimi Hendrix came up in my cd collection rotation yesterday. I played it and loved listening to it.
