What Is The Best Song By The 1975

From the ashes of the weekly song poll rises “What Is The Best Song By”. A very similar segment where I want to know what your favourite song(s) by the selected artist is! You can let us know in the comments!

The best thing is that if you don’t know the artist then you can see both our recommendations as well as those by other people.

Fox’s Recommendations

This hit comes from arguably their breakout era and their most defining track. It’s smooth, and has a really fantastic production. Pair those with honest lyrics and massive hooks and this song is not leaving your head. It shows how the band can blend parts of songs that usually belong in pop into the alt/rock space.

The 1975 – Somebody Else (All Rights Are Retained By The 1975)

There is a reason why this song is a real fan favourite! I like it personally because it leans heavier on their indie roots, with energy and emotion. It’s raw and to me that is why it stands out. Vulnerability meets upbeat.

The 1975 – Chocolate (All Rights Are Retained By The 1975)

Fox’s Wildcard

This song shows that the band are not scared of pushing their sound a little. They expanded here with ambient textures and a personal message. It feels much more mature than most of their other songs, and perhaps a step in the right direction as songwriters.

The only song of theirs I really know is Somebody Else, and what always hit me the hardest about that song was the line “I’m looking through you, while you’re looking through your phone, and then leaving with somebody else.” Let’s just say that perfectly described the breakup I had just been through recently at the time…
