New Rock Roundup Vol 47

This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!

There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup

Rock

Waterparks – PROWLER.

This is going to be like nothing you have heard before. Rap, rock and lots of electronic elements. This is not something I would normally bump into on my usual listening , but boy am I glad that I did!

Waterparks – PROWLER (All Rights Are Retained By Waterparks)

Metal

Wage War – BLINDFOLD.

I saw these guys opening for Papa Roach and was impressed! They have found themselves a really niche hard sound. With it being between Metal/Rap/Pop. The riffs on this track are really menacing which doesn’t quite fit the rest of it, but the vocal flow is really well done.

Wage War – BLINDFOLD (All Rights Are Retained By Wage War)

Metalcore

Catch Your Breath, Kami Kohoe – [Gen] Inside.

I appear to be listening to a lot of bands from Texas recently, these cool cats are from Austin specifically. I enjoy the high-pitched male vocals, and the way they contrast beautifully against the female and harsh vocals too. The riffs are not a mainstay for me in this song, but the drums are killer!

Catch Your Breath, Kami Kohoe – [Gen] Inside (All Rights Are Retained By Catch Your Breath & Kami Kohoe)

Punk

Prince Daddy & The Hyena – Oh, Donna.

This weeks Punk is on the softer side of things, but I am in a good mood so bright and easy is the theme. If you like the punk style without all the aggression and political themes then this is for you.

Prince Daddy & The Hyena – Oh, Donna (All Rights Are Retained By Prince Daddy & The Hyena)

Pop Punk

The Summer Set – Cloudy With A Chance.

This is about as stereotypical pop-punk as you can get but that chorus is AMAZING. This would make it’s way onto a summer playlist which always means it is pretty good!

The Summer Set – Cloudy With A Chance (All Rights Are Retained By The Summer Set)

Alternative

The Band CAMINO – Holly!.

They describe themselves as “Your mum’s favourite band” to be honest, my mum would like them! It’s chilled out, clean and a really up and down bob. I really enjoy the riffs during the chorus too.

The Band CAMINO – Holly! (All Rights Are Retained By The Band CAMINO)

Indie

Blossoms – Joke About Divorce.

This gives me massive 60s vibes! F.U.N.K. The bassline in this song is amazing. Light and breezy and a feel great song for a summers day. Which is slightly odd due to the songs lyrical subject. But seriously wow.

Blossoms – Joke About Divorce (All Rights Are Retained By Blossoms)
