New Rock Roundup Vol 54

This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!

There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup

Rock

Starcrawler – On 2 U.

Explosive! Five-Piece band starcrawler almost got added to my punk section, but I think there is more traditional rock thrown in here. It reminds me a little of Joan Jett and I think fans of her will love this. Seriously though hold on tight, it’s quite the ride, even at 2 minutes long!

Metal

Lake Malice – Ghost In A Hell.

I like the odd sprinkling of new features in my metal and this time its a splashing of electronics. Lake Malice do everything really well, with technical guitar segments and a really addictive chorus. As a band not one I would listen to all the time , but the odd one off song like this I’ll be more than happy to jam to!

Metalcore

Anchorage – Silence.

Straight into the carnage with this one, not time to settle. I really like that about this track. Headbang central right here. When the clean vocals do come in they are really done well and have this angelic quality to them. Heavy riffs throughout have an unsettling nature to them too.

Anchorage – Silence (All Rights Are Retained By Anchorage)

Punk

Everyday Dogs – The Great Space Train Robbery.

I love the vocals on this followed by the banging on the drums. It’s fast paced as all punk should be. They are not a band that I am massively familiar with but I’ll be keeping an eye out moving forward.

Everyday Dogs – The Great Space Train Robbery (All Rights Are Retained By Everyday Dogs)

Pop Punk

Meet Me @ The Altar – Strung Out.

These dismantle rock and pop punk. It’s still light and easy to listen to but with a much heavier riff behind it. I think this song is going to gain them some new fans for sure. Drumming is on point too!

Alternative

Plaiins – Look Ma, I’m A Don.

One of the most exciting bands I have heard in the past couple of years! Their debut album was in our top ten for 2025. This is their first single since and if this is how they are going to continue then they are going to be huge. With their laid back style and vocals with a cool flow these know how to play with my fun side. Listen to this and not smile. I challenge you!

Indie

Talking Pets – People Pleaser.

Light and breezy the way I like my Indie! Talking heads do not have too many monthly listeners yet which I think will change in the coming months. The lyrics really speak to me too as I am a people pleaser myself.
