What Is The Best Song By The Eagles

From the ashes of the weekly song poll rises “What Is The Best Song By”. A very similar segment where I want to know what your favourite song(s) by the selected artist is! You can let us know in the comments!

The best thing is that if you don’t know the artist then you can see both our recommendations as well as those by other people.

Fox’s Recommendations

This song is a masterpiece and has one of the most famous layered double guitar solos ever. It’s eerie in places and even have a little reggae thrown in for good measure. It’s about greed and the darker side of the American dream. Perfect storytelling and flawless execution.

Eagles – Hotel California (All Rights Are Retained By Eagles)

The debut single! It screams southern California with its acoustic rhythm and three part vocal harmonies. The breezy nature and optimism made the band a household name almost immediately.

Eagles – Take It Easy (All Rights Are Retained By Eagles)

Fox’s Wildcard

Hidden away on the Desperado album this psych folk song is overlooked far too often. With its brooding melody it is not long before it transforms into a full scale hypnotic jam. The perfect fit for a wild west cinematic album.

Eagles – Bitter Creek (All Rights Are Retained By Eagles)

I burned out on the Eagles a very long time ago due to severe Top 40 overplay, so the first two songs are out for that reason. I’ll have to put my vote toward Bitter Creek because it’s lesser known.

Of these three, Hotel California wins for me, hands down. To me, it was always a complex song with a somewhat different feel to many of their others.

I have a tag on some of my writings trite Don Henley. I’m not a great big fan of the Eagles however it was one of the better concerts saw when I saw them in Philadelphia.

There’s a live version of Hotel California that is fantastic. I’ll go with Timothy B Schmidt. “ I can’t tell you why.”

It would be difficult for me to find anything less than good by this lot, so to be the best it would have to be very good, if you see what I mean. Although an instrumental Journey of the Sourcerer hits the spot; Hotel California to Take it to the limit (one more time) because the Greeks don’t want no Freaks with Life in the Fast Lane. 😉

I don’t think I’ve ever heard Bitter Creek until now. I like it.

I always liked Already Gone. And Lyin’ Eyes, which is in my vocal range enough that I can sing it at karaoke. And Desperado; it reminds me of myself.

For myself it’s Desperado. Of course I don’t thing there are any bad ones in their repetoire.
