Song Information
Ziggy: ‘Bittersweet Regret is an invitation to break the mould, shatter societal conditioning, and kick back against self-sacrifice & people pleasing in the name of love.
During the songwriting process my intention was to channel every shade of emotional processing when realising you’ve become caught up in an unhealthy relationship dynamic.
My aim was to embody an element of playful unhinged expression that only comes when you’ve reached your absolute limit. I wanted to actively lean into the space (rage) that as a woman, we are so often taught not to express openly. I want the listener to feel the emotional impact of a women who’s had enough.
I want ‘Bittersweet Regret’ be an empowering reminder that your shadow aspects are welcome, that all aspects of your emotional inner-world are valid & worthy of expression.’
Leon: ‘The aggressive approach to the guitars can be traced back to Jack White. Huge Fuzz sounds counteracted by simplicity, the best combination.
Building tones as if to build a wall, that mountains on the last chorus. The ricochet was a major part of the sound, the option of where to go up or down the octave, was a great jolting effect that further adds to the aggressive approach’.
