From winning Metal 2 The Masses to scoring BBC Radio 1 Track of the Week, Coventry’s own heavy hitters Meet Your Maker are proof that hard work, humility, and raw passion pay off. Balancing skull-crushing breakdowns with an unshakeable message of hope and faith, the band is gearing up to take the Bloodstock Open Air stage by storm.
The guys talk to us about their explosive debut album Hallowed, nightmare instrument swaps, and why their bassist’s personal life dominates the band group chat.

Let’s start with a fun one! If your heavy anthem DIG DEEP was turned into a breakfast cereal, what would it be called and what kind of toy would be in the box?
This is a great first question! Haha! Well, ‘Dig Deep’ is meant to be a song that fires you up and helps you get one extra rep in the gym, so it’d have to be a Protein Cereal. Our vocalist Matt is also a huge Pro-Wrestling fan, so we’d probably have to call it something like Cereal Slams or Muscle Munchies! The toys would be mini wrestling figures of each member of the band.
BBC Radio 1 Introducing named Worship Is Warfare as Track of The Week. What did that feel like having that wider recognition?
That was very cool. We’d only released one other single before WIW, so it really gave us a boost at just the right time as we were finalising the album. With Alyx giving us such high praise it gave us a stamp of approval that helped us gain some traction with our UK audience. We were very humbled, and it encouraged us that we were on the right track.
Throughout your song titles there is a lot of references to religion. I’m wondering does this match your personal lives too? Was this even a conscious decision or something that just happened?
Yes, our music matches our personal lives. When we started this band, our mission was clear – come rain or shine, praise or rejection, we’ll always be about our faith and encouraging people to connect with Jesus. We love the metal and hardcore music scene and we *genuinely* love the people in it.
As a band we’ve lost too many friends to suicide, so we have NHS and HeartSupport mental health resources at our merch table at every show, and we believe the best way to be spiritually healthy is to have a relationship with God. It’s nothing but love from us, and the greatest love we’ve ever known is Jesus on the cross, dying for our sins, so that we can have a restored and intimate relationship with God. We’ll never be ashamed about that.
If you were forced to replace the breakdowns in your songs with entirely different instruments, what nightmare combination would you go for? Personally a kazoo replacing the drums sounds fun…
Saxophone replacing lead guitars with beatboxing for drums and our bassist Dave just shouting “GIVE IT TO ME GIVE IT TO ME GIVE IT TO ME” for the rhythm section.
Bloodstock Open Air is on the Horizon! What is it like getting to play such a huge festival in your genre’s space?
It’s an honour, for sure. Playing on such a huge stage in front of so many people is going to be lots of fun, but the most important thing for us is that we get to bring our message of hope to everyone in attendance. Even if it benefits just one person who is struggling and they get filled with hope and love and decide to make it through to Monday morning, that would be the biggest win in this whole thing.
You secured your spot at the festival after winning Metal2TheMasses! Firstly, how did it feel in the moment you were announced as the winners? Secondly what would you say to bands thinking about entering next year?
Honestly? Absolute shock. We made it through each stage by judge’s wildcard, and we were up against some tough competition who consistently had bigger numbers of friends attend the shows. We worked very hard to level up our game at each heat, so knowing that the hard work paid off and the judges recognised that felt amazing. If you’re in a band that’s considering entering the competition – DO IT!
We had a blast at every M2TM heat, and we’d go as far as to say they were the most fun shows we’ve ever played, regardless of whether we made it through. You have nothing to lose, and it will 100% sharpen you as a band. We’ve become so much more disciplined and tighter, from getting quicker at stage-turnarounds to learning to adapt your set on the fly when time isn’t on your side. You’ll enjoy it and you’ll be better off for it.
Which member of the band would be the WORST contestant on the TV gameshow Taskmaster? And why?
Our guitarist Dylan because he’s too competitive and would crumble under the pressure and lose.
Is there a conversation you have had with a fan at the merch desk after a show that has completely changed your perspective, or stuck with you?
We have some amazing conversations at our merch table with people from all walks of life and different beliefs (or none). Some people are just wanting to say hi, some have questions, and some are hurting- physically and mentally- and giving them space to just talk, share their story and connect enables them to be seen and heard in that moment. There’s been a few conversations where we’ve been able to pray at the end, and the person has walked away feeling so much better. That makes the costs and late nights away from our families worthwhile.
If you had to pick out a line of lyrics from your latest album “Hallowed” as your favourite what line are you picking and why?
If you asked each member, we’d all give different answers! Hearing the crowd shout “DIG DEEP!” back to us live is lots of fun! Also the opening line from the opening track The Servant King says, “The first will be last and the last will be first”. It’s a bit of a mantra we live by because that sums up the Kingdom of God and the way Jesus lived. Everything is upside down. He was the one most worthy to be praised, yet he humbled himself and served others, even to death. The world would look very different if we all put other people ahead of ourselves.
Sticking with that album, your song Servant King goes HARD! I want to know though if you could have a servant do anything for the band to make your lives easier, what would it be and why?
Thanks! We love that song too! Having some help setting up the merch table and stage gear would be much appreciated! And fetching us a pack of Monster Energy Drinks would go down a storm!
If your private band group chat was to be leaked tomorrow, what would fans be most shocked about?
How much we talk about Dave and his wife having 4 kids and how they’re going to populate the entire planet. He’s a busy boy…

No, seriously, we talk about Dave’s incredible manhood far too much.
You’re from Coventry (Not far from us!) I’d love to know some local bands we should know about, and what songs we should start with?
Shout-out MASSASAUGA who we played with in the Coventry Metal2TheMasses Final. Also big up KENSEI as well.
You recently opened a show for a firm favourite of ours Glamour Of The Kill… What was that experience like, and what did you learn from the show?
Those guys are super sweet. Really friendly, humble, approachable and were very kind to us. It was great to see legends in the scene make a strong comeback and almost reinvent themselves a bit. We opened the show and at that point in the night there wasn’t a huge crowd. The lesson we learned is to remain humble and give it 100% even if there’s only a handful of people there, because for those who *are* there, they’ve still paid good money to watch the best performance you can give.
We’ve touched on your most recent album but are there any plans for the next one?
Within a month of releasing our debut ‘Hallowed’ in June 2025 we started writing album #2. The machine doesn’t sleep! We’re changing our style ever so slightly… can’t say too much but we’re very excited to bring something fresh, and we have some very cool guest spots lined up as well…
Where can fans catch you for the rest of 2026?
After playing BLOODSTOCK NewBlood stage on the Friday, we’re heading over to THE SANCTUM FESTIVAL in Birmingham on Sun 16t Aug, and then we’re appearing at AMPLIFIED FESTIVAL Corporation in Sheffield on Sat 19th September. Both of those events have some incredible headliners and you do not want to miss them!
Finally if you all had to play instruments with crab claws for hands, or octopus tentacles, which one are you picking and why?
Tentacles because 8 limbs = sick drums and you could still play piano. Octopuses have great dexterity. Plus, Matt could Hi-Five, like, 6 extra people at the barrier.
