Hope you and the family have a wonderful time!

Favorite holiday was taking my wife to my hometown – Hollywood Beach in South Florida. Spent a week browsing shops, dining in little cafes, and basking on the white sand. And drinking a few too many adult beverages. 🙂

Sounds like absolute bliss to me! Ever thought about moving back there?

We discussed it, but it’s grown up so much and is so crowded now. I think we’re happier in our little college town. Only gets crazy during football season (American football, that is!).

My favorite holiday with family (growing up, with my own young kids, and even now they are grown) is Christmas. Can’t help being sentimental, I guess. Enjoy your upcoming family time!

It is indeed! I’m pretty sure that’s why I like writing the Connor Falls Christmas series so much. Christmas, smalltown, families, friends. The stories are more like what I recall than what occurs now. I continue to try to bring the Christmas Spirit back every year, though.

Enjoy the break — a holiday or two before the 14th sounds like the right way to end the summer. Since you asked: ours was a fairly unglamorous week in a rented cottage where it rained most days and the kids spent the whole time building dams in a stream. Nobody remembers the weather, they just remember the stream.

Sometimes the best holidays are those which on the outside feel not the most glamourous!

Oh boy. I think you meant family holiday not necessary a particular holiday with family. So, despite my fond memories of being with family at Christmas, I’d have to say the family trips (because we took more than one) to Williamsburg, VA were always a high point for me. There, Shenandoah National Park, and Monticello are my favorite places to spend time with family or by myself.
