What’s one thing that would instantly improve your city?

So as someone who runs a rock music website the obvious answer would be more rock shows!

However in all fairness there are quite a few already. So I guess what I really mean is BIGGER rock shows.

Alas my city currently does not have the venues that make bigger bands stop on their UK tours. So I think my real answer to this question would have to be bigger rock venues. I genuinely believe a purpose built music venue in my city of around 20,000 seats or capacity would do really well!

It wouldn’t even have to be just for rock obviously but it would kick the place back into life for sure. But we are situated in the middle of the UK, we have 2 major rock and metal festivals near us already it is the IDEAL location for something like this…

What would improve your city?!

I am old and I am done with cities. I don’t need more gigs because I haven’t got time, energy or childfreeness to attend to all I’d like at the moment, so what I think I’d like most is a mass transit system to get me in and out without being vexed by parking or the rubbishness of the local buses in the evenings

One thing that would improve my city is better music venues, specifically, space for bigger acts. We have an outdoor pavilion that’s…okay, but the seating is limited. The other option is an indoor auditorium with terrible acoustics…all concrete and steel. You’d think a city with two universities would have better facilities.

      You would indeed!

Perhaps someone will come along in time and sort out the issue for you 🙂

      I hope so anyways!

It’s interesting how something as simple as a good music venue can completely change a city’s atmosphere. 😄 With two universities, you’d think there would be plenty of demand for a proper concert space. What kind of bigger acts do you think your city could attract if they finally built a better venue?

Not specific to any city in particular, but I’d love to see more small-mid tier venues who would pay bands to perform. The whole economy of music is completely messed up and it seems impossible for acts to break though these days. And also proper street-teams to promote young artists

This was my first reaction, too. Melbourne/Naarm has a good music scene, but definitely needs to be supported by government to promote the young brave artists who keep the industry alive.

See where I am from there is plenty of small venues, but its the mid to large that is missing.

A 20,000-seat venue in the midlands would be a game-changer! It really is frustrating when major tours skip over central cities just because of venue capacity. Bringing those big productions in would do wonders for local music culture! 🎸🏟️

This is such a strong case for a bigger venue! 🎸🏟️ Being centrally located with two major festivals nearby practically makes the argument for you. Hoping this becomes a reality one day!
