Here and Everywhere – It’s In The Way (All Rights Are Retained By Here and Everywhere)

“OH MY GOD.” The opening line of the song, and the perfect way to introduce it. That raw opening is merely an indication of what’s about to follow. The drums crash in behind those bellowing vocals, joined swiftly by a deep bassline and guitar riff that progress the track.

What really stands out here is how well everything sits together. Nothing feels like it’s fighting for attention and mix wise everything is where it should be. Which I find particularly refreshing given that on some of the band’s more recent releases, Alek’s vocals have occasionally felt buried beneath the instrumentation. If you’ve heard Scream, you’ll understand just how strange that sounds coming from me. Here, though, the richness of her voice shines through, bringing a warmth and presence that is impossible not to appreciate.

And it’s not just the vocals. The bass provides the canvas, the drums lay down the foundations, and the guitar adds subtle variations that wow. The chorus, while lyrically simple, carries considerable weight. It’s catchy without feeling forced, and that ability to stick in your head is exactly what you need in a hit. There’s a wild, almost cinematic energy to it, like watching a horse galloping along a beach as the waves crash around it in the middle of a storm.

For me, this is the best song Here and Everywhere have released under their current name. It’s powerful, melodic and beautifully balanced and, quite honestly, I can’t wait to see where they go from here.
