What’s The Worst Travel Experience You Have Ever Had?

This is a super easy one for me! I went to this festival (which was absolutely AMAZING) but sadly our trip was cut short by 2 days due to a tent that leaked to the point where we nearly drowned as we slept…

We woke up underwater with all our clothes ruined. We had to miss the final couple of days of the festival and travel back early to great personal expense..

How about you?

That can’t have been pleasant, but I can commiserate with the rain, having woken up to a wet beginning of my day. :3

Not much worse than a leaking tent!

I had a similar experience where I was sleeping out in a pup tent when a storm rolled through. The wind pulled the stakes loose, the tent collapsed on me, and rain everywhere. Oddly, I continue to camp out…. 🙂

      It’s the worst!

Yeah it is odd how you continue to camp after that (I have avoided tents since) but glad that you do!

Waking up completely underwater definitely takes the crown for the camping mishap. a wild and unforgettable travel disaster story!

Just before the Covid lockdowns, I was travelling in New Zealand. As a whole my experience was brilliant, but I think I stayed in the worst hostel in Auckland. It was nine beds, the door didn’t lock properly, it was an absolute mess, the internal plumbing went through the room, there were signs up everywhere about stealing and you could only borrow the kitchen equipment for a certain amount of time. I sent a picture to my Kiwi friend who said it looked like I was in prison. I guess that’s what I get for being so cheap…if I wanted something better, I should have paid for a hotel.

My worst experience is also my best. It was my first trip to Paris (I was a teenage Francophile) and I was so excited to be there and it was amazing. But I was really fat back then and wore a dress, which resulted in the worst thigh chafing of my life. Kilometers of walking on day 3 (of 7) and I was in so much pain. Thanks to gauze and paracetamol, I made it through what was more memorable than miserable, but it was miserable too.
