Set The Tone With
The premise behind this post type is to get an insight into the daily lives of the bands that we love! We have given them some situations to attribute a song to and let us know why that song in particular is perfect!
You can check out the answers the band gave below, as well as jam out to the tunes they picked. Want to listen to the complete collection from this segment? Click the Spotify link below!
What is the perfect song for the gym?
Daz – I do not go to the gym as the heaviest thing I lift is my amp but if I had to pick a workout song, it would be “Carry That Weight” by The Beatles. Nothing like a little melodic existentialism while pretending to do squats
Dave – Me neither as lifting my flight cases is a workout within itself but probably anything from Rage Against the Machine’s first record as every song is a stomper, but it would have to be “Settle for Nothing” if I had to choose only one
Oz – Have you seen the size of my belly….gym is a blokes name right! My idea of working out is fixing my old Ford f250 truck. Man, some of those parts are heavy, so whilst doing that there is no better song than “Back in Black” by AC/DC, an absolute belter!
What is your go to happy song, when you’re angry or sad?
Daz – “Mr. Brownstone” by Guns N’ Roses. Always picks me up!
Dave – “Rollercoaster” by B*Witched, easy answer….next question!
Oz – “New Noise” by Refused….CAN I SCREAM!
The perfect song to put on while cooking?
Daz – “Where Is My Mind?” by Pixies. It is exactly how I feel while cooking, completely distracted and burning bacon
Dave – I usually listen to the radio whilst cooking so whatever pops up but “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd always gets me excited when it drops on Radio X Classic Rock
Oz – Anything by The Police are usually the songs to cook to in our house. Other than that, I listen to Baltimore Rock 98.7 as it reminds me of my days living in the USofA
The song are you most proud of?
Daz – “Under The Table” everything about it, the riff, drums and lyrics. Perfection!
Dave – I would have to agree with Daz on this one. “Under The Table” was easily the quickest song that we have written, it basically wrote itself! It is also so much fun to play live. It has everything!
Oz – “Instead Of Me”….the Lemmy power chords at the start are BRUTAL!
Fox – I have had the pleasure of listening to Under The Table already! It’s not out till later this month. So please enjoy the above link to their other songs for now… Will update this post after the song is released.
Your all time favourite rock song?
Daz – That is an impossible question, so I will just go with “Fuck Like A Beast” by W.A.S.P. It says everything and nothing at the same time. Or anything with Bon Scott on it!
Dave – Very much so, I agree, impossible! That is like picking your favourite child but if someone had a gun to my head then “Dancing with the Moonlit Knight” by Genesis
Oz – Holy camels, that is a hard one! It would have to be a tossup between” Burden In My Hand”, “Rusty Cage” or “Spoonman” by Soundgarden. Chris Cornell = G.O.A.T!
The wind down song that settles you before sleep?
Daz – “Third Stone from the Sun” by Jimi Hendrix. Your people, I do not understand. So to you, I shall put an end. And you will never hear surf music again
Dave – “Sometimes” by My Bloody Valentine. Kevin Shield’s vocal is like pure silk. Loveless is one of the finest records ever made, period
Oz – “Ghost of You” by My Chemical Romance. It is haunting and enchanting at the same time…. a masterpiece of a song! Or sometimes “Little One” by Highly Suspect, a great tune!
The perfect song to set the mood on a date?
Daz – My wedding first dance was to “By Your Side” by Ben Harper so that one will always be the real answer for me. Or “Fuck Like A Beast” by W.A.S.P.
Dave – “Caribou” by Pixies, my wife would definitely disagree though! If someone played that to me on a date, especially on a first date, then that is a sure sign that they are a keeper!
Oz – “Daddy Of Mine” by 4 Year Strong….sultry and smooth, and it croons! Or “What A Fool Believes” [Cover version] by sElf
A song by an amazing local band we might not know about?
Daz – “Billy Don’t Be a Hero” by Paper Lace, have you heard of them?
Dave – What a choice! I am going to go old school here and say “18 x Again” by a Nottingham band called Face. They were only around for a short time back in about 2001/2002, but they were absolutely fuckin awesome!
Oz – “Circle Of No Truth” by Under The Radar. Wow, now that is a belter! The vocals on the chorus are some of the best that I have ever heard….(insert cheeky/winky face!) if you know, you know!
The perfect pre show song to amp you up?
Daz – “Riff Raff” from Powerage by AC/DC, I love that album. Also, “Mountain Song” by Jane’s Addiction. Or anything from Nirvana’s first album Bleach but better when Grohl plays em!
Dave – Absolutely, Mr Grohl is THE MAN but only when he has sticks in his hand! I do not usually listen to music before a gig and instead opt for a pre-gig fag but “Bodies” by The Sex Pistols gets me ramped up to fuck!
Oz – “Mississippi Queen” by Mountain….MORE COWBELL PLEASE!!!
A great song you think Fox Reviews Rock won’t have heard before?
Daz – “Top Shelf Women” by Nottingham band Jamietrain
Dave – Oooooh, that is a good question. I am going to go with “Super-Sonic” by The Brian Jonestown Massacre. It is the first song on their record Give it Back! which is an absolute belter
Oz – “Say You Will” by Black Peaks is a great tune. The bass on the start is just pure adultery
