Chris Squire take a bow! That bassline is sublime… As is Steve Howe’s acoustic guitar on the songs introduction. This song makes prog rock incredibly catchy, and means that it is often played on classic rock radio.
How has an 18 minute song made it onto this list… Well for a start it is the playbook for prog rock storytelling and song composition. It flows seamlessly through various sections of chaotic instrumentation, not to mention that AMAZING vocal climax.
Fox’s Wildcard
This song is often overlooked, but it’s melodic nature makes this one hell of a ballad. If you want to shut your eyes and escape the world for 9 minutes then this is the song I would recommend to you!
