So I think I need to first of all mention that this was not the first album that I got that I wanted. I asked for American Idiot by Green Day for Christmas. But this question is about the album that I personally bought.
That honour goes to Fall Out Boy “Infinity On High”. I was sat painting figurines (Nerdy I know) in a local store when “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race” came on over the speaker. I was hooked!
I ran out the shop straight to the CD store and bought a copy then and there, I was so grateful when I found all the other songs excellent too! In fact to this day it is still one of my favourite albums. You should also check out “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs”.
In terms of how it has influenced my taste going forward it was like a gateway into all things Emo , which is a firm favourite style/subgenre of mine. It opened my eyes to bands like 30 Seconds To Mars and My Chemical Romance.
It’d love to know your own first album that you bought and how its changed your musical journey in the comments section!
