This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!
There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup
Rock
The Black Keys – A Little Too High.
This is about as chilled out as rock gets. It is not all about hitting the drums as hard as you can you know… The laid back bluesy undernotes in this song are excellent too.
Special Mention: Wolf Alice – White Horses.
Metal
Hyro The Hero – Black Rambo.
This dude features on our interview with The Blackout from earlier today! But this is obviously a much more recent song… This wont be to everyone’s taste, but I find myself rather enjoying the rap like lyrics. Especially when accompanied with thunderous drum beats.
Special Mention: Attack Attack! – Karmageddon.
Metalcore
Villain Of The Story – Blow Me Away.
Anyone doing a cover of a Breaking Benjamin song is going to get my undivided attention! The clean vocals might not be as good as the original but by gosh do the harsh vocals provide something new to the song. A cool reinterpretation!
Special Mention: Void:Embrace – Abyssal.
Punk
Free The Witness – Carpetbomb!.
What I enjoy about punk is that it takes so many different forms! This band reminds me a little of Rise Against! Somewhat unpolished in parts but a really meaningful song… Who wants a polished punk song anyways.
Special Mention: Splitcast – Between The Fire And The Damned.
Pop Punk
Everway – 29.
What a voice! Honestly this is a beautiful song and has some real heartfelt lyrics too. Lyrically it reminds me of some of the softer songs by Nickleback. That is no bad thing!
Special Mention: Faded Polaroids – Burning Paradise.
Alternative
Sombr – 12 To 12.
This weeks playlist is looking really damn strange, genres not being genres and all that. But this is about as alt as you get. Its got a really funky vibe to it and its one that I think people are going to enjoy!
Special Mention: Stone – Never Again.
Indie
The K’s – Rat Poison.
Now this is indie! It would have fit right in at the recent festival we reviewed… I really enjoy the sound these guys generate, and the song title made me laugh as I couldnt work out how they were going to fit it in. An interesting one to watch…
Special Mention: The Clause – Elisha.
