Fox’s Recommendations
This iconic Floyd track includes an acoustic intro that builds steadily into huge synths and lyrics with lots of emotion. A genre defining tribute to Syd Barrett that finds perfect balance between intimacy and a spacey atmosphere. The four note guitar makes for a timeless masterpiece.
If you could pick a song to define the prog rock era then this would be in. With lyrics charged with philosophy, it starts with the ticking of clocks. That is before bursting into a driving rhythm and a at this point legendary solo. It hits like a tidal wave and is a masterclass in tension.
Fox’s Wildcard
This shows off a darker side of the band as it explores the theme of isolation. Hypnotic verses build up tension before finally exploding into what is considered the finish guitar solo recorded. The live performances of this are fantastic too!
