What Are Five Simple Exercises To Do At Home?

What are five simple exercises to do at home?

As regular readers of my site will know I am on a bit of a fitness journey at the moment. Having previously needed gall bladder removal surgery losing weight is not something that is easy anymore.

I am instead sticking to a calorie control diet and a weightlifting program that I really enjoy! I use Lyfta to track what I do purely because otherwise I would wing it.

I stick my favourite tunes on, place headphones over my ears and get right to it! The five exercise movements I am really big on at the moment are as follows.

  • Lat pulldown
  • Chest press
  • Overhead tricep extension
  • Squat
  • Hammer curls

I’d love to know though what are 5 exercises you would recommend?

I do push-ups every day, and usually some pilates and yoga. I’m not necessarily trying to lose weight, just stay in shape and keep my core solid.

Ah so your workouts are basically body weight and flexibility originated. Any plans to add some weights to the mix?

I’d like to, but I’m easing into it. 🙂

It’s not a sprint, that can be added in time 🙂

Walking is my exercise of choice…plugged into my ancient iPod. Before recent health issues sidelined me I was walking an average of 10-12K steps (roughly 4.5-5 miles) every day. I’m nowhere near that currently, but working hard to build it back up.

Slapping headphones on and tracking progress with Lyfta is such a solid way to stay locked into a routine! Squats and lat pulldowns are absolute staples. Keep crushing that fitness journey!

as someone who works at home, I do all of my workouts at home, lol. I started a weight loss journey in my late 30s so I sympathize with the lack of ease. I do it all at home, cardio kickboxing, dance etc… but 5 I do…gorilla squats (any squats really), chest presses, wood chopper, jackhammer and dead lifts.

    Good luck! 😛

Sounds like you are following a similar journey to me then as I work from home and have my workout stuff at home also 🙂

Totally. I realized pretty early on that having it at home increased the likelihood of working out by 100% rather than making excuses for why I didn’t want to leave the house. 🙂
